A diamond wedding band is an outward symbol of the love shared between two people. Of course, married couples do not have to have a diamond band. In fact, some people do not like diamonds. Instead, they prefer colorful stones such as sapphire, emeralds, and so forth. However, if you do choose a diamond wedding band, you’re probably interested in how to care for the stone.

1. Clean the Stone Once a Week: Over time, a diamond wedding band can lose its luster or shine, especially if you wear the ring on an everyday basis. Once or twice a week, remove the ring and soak the diamond in mild soapy water. This will release dirt, grime, and body oils. Next, use a small toothbrush and gently scrub the diamond. Rinse the diamond, and allow the ring to air dry.

2. Insure the Wedding Band: If you plan to keep your diamond wedding band for years to come, considering buying insurance for the jewelry. You may be able to add a rider to your homeowner’s or renter’s insurance policy.
